Free & Reduced Information

We're here to help you through these difficult financial times! *We encourage everyone to apply for free or reduced meal benefits.*

Parents: You are encouraged to apply for meal benefits each year even if you think your household may not qualify! Families must apply each school year to receive benefits. Students may receive benefits according to their eligibility from the prior school year for the first 30 days of the new school year if they were enrolled in Houston County Schools last year. If your child received reduced priced or free meals from the school cafeteria last year please be sure you turn in a new application for the 2011-2012 School Year.

Attention: Fill out one application only for your household per year. Include all students in your household. If you fill out more than one application per household, it will delay processing and void the original application. This may remove your student(s) from the program. Students will have to pay full price for meals after 30 days of the new school year unless a new application has been received and processed by the Child Nutrition Department.


Privacy Act Statement: This explains how we will use the information you give us. The Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act requires the information on this application. You do not have to give the information, but if you do not, we cannot approve your child for free orreduced price meals. You must include the social security number of the adult household member who signs the application. The social security number is not required when you apply on behalf of a foster child or you list a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families a(TANF) Program or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) case number or other FDPIP identifier for your child or when you indicate that the adult household member signing the application does not have a social security number. We will use your information to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced price meals, and for administration and enforcement of the lunch and breakfast programs. We MAY share your eligibility determination benefits with education, health and nutrition programs to help them evaluate, fund, or determine benefits for their programs, auditors for the program review, and law enforcement officials to help them look into violations of program funds and program rules.
